What a debut for the Galileo FC Over 40’s at Soccerfest 2025! 🔥⚽️
Our Over 40’s squad came out swinging in their first-ever appearance, finishing their first soccerfest campaign with a solid 2-1 record, scoring 8 goals and conceding just 3 across the tournament. 💪
Despite the strong performance, they narrowly missed the playoffs by a single point — but what a campaign it was! 👏
An incredible team effort, full of goals, and passion. We’re beyond proud and already counting down the days until next year. Let’s go, Galileo
A massive congratulations to the Galileo Football Club Over 30's Squad for finishing 3rd place at Soccerfest 2025 — the club’s best placement ever!🏆
After topping their group with grit and style, the boys pushed hard in the semi-finals but fell to the eventual winners of the over 30’s class. The 3rd place consolation game went in their favour however, with 2 goals in the second half to end their historic campaign with a WIN.👏
Big shoutout to our friends at Roosters FC for the epic collaboration that brought fresh energy and unity to the squad. This one’s for the history books. Go Galileo!

A Night to Remember: Galileo FC’s Soccerfest Player Appreciation BBQ
What a night! Galileo FC hosted an unforgettable Player Appreciation BBQ that brought together players, friends, and family for an evening of great food, warm company, and community spirit. The event as a perfect celebration of the Galileo FC family.
The evening was generously supported by Nester Groceries and House of Hager, ensured everyone ate well no plate went empty and no stomach unsatisfied.
As the sun set, the backyard came to life with the soft glow of string lights, setting a cozy and festive mood. Laughter and conversation filled the air, while the future of Galileo FC—our young Galileans—played with boundless energy in the yard. Their joy was contagious and a beautiful reminder of the community we’re building together.
The turnout was incredible, and it was heartwarming to see so many familiar faces enjoying a well-deserved evening of relaxation and celebration. Events like these truly show the heart of Galileo FC—it’s not just a club, it’s a family.
Here’s to many more nights like this. Thank you to everyone who made it possible!
Every May long weekend, soccer players from across the province descend on Saltspring Island for the annual Challenge Cup—a tradition now in its 38th year. The tournament features divisions for all levels of play: Rec, Competitive, and Over-35 for both men and women, plus an Over-50s division for men. Beyond the matches, the festival atmosphere is completed with lively beer gardens, food vendors serving up all kinds of eats, and the occasional social event that makes the weekend one of the most anticipated gatherings of the year.
One of a Kind at atmosphere
This year marked Galileo Football Club’s first-ever participation, and our players embraced the challenge head-on. Braving a long day’s journey and relentless rain, the squad arrived on Saltspring Island and set up camp at the Farmers Market field. By the next morning, nearly 700 other players had joined from across Vancouver, Vancouver Island, and beyond, creating a buzzing, festival-like atmosphere filled with good food, live music, and plenty of camaraderie.
The road wasn’t without hurdles. A string of last-minute cancellations left our roster thin, but thanks to the support of friends from Victoria, we were able to fill the gaps. This unexpected twist landed us in the Competitive Division, where we found ourselves squaring off against some of the toughest teams—Premiere and First Division clubs from Vancouver and Vancouver Island.
Though the odds were stacked against us, the Galileo squad showed resilience, unity, and grit. We battled hard, kept the games tight, and never lost our spirit. In the end, the results may not have gone our way, but the lessons learned, the bonds strengthened, and the memories made far outweighed the scorelines.
We came, we played, we barbecued, and we celebrated together with friends and family. For our club, this first Saltspring Challenge Cup was more than just soccer—it was about community, spirit, and the joy of the game.
The Galileo Football Club will return, stronger and wiser, in 2026—ready to take on the island again.
